Last Saturday Ryan and I sat down for an afternoon of design work. Our main focus at this meeting was on art, specifically for the cards and starting with the evolutions. At this point I had been drawing ants for the last couple of weeks and was feeling pretty comfortable with how they work. Ryan has been drawing ants for over a decade.
We started by Ryan showing me some tools and tricks on Photoshop, primarily dealing with alpha channels, masks and working with multiple layers. This is how the majority of Ryan’s art is done and learning about it was very exciting. We spent the next few hours working on Photoshop, deciding who was going to draw which evolutions, and sketching ants.
By the end of the evening Ryan had two ants sketched and I had finished my first. Ovee the next few days we added color and backgrounds and now have rough drafts. They still have quite a ways to go before being at a level that we will be happy with and that will attract customers but it is very exciting to being starting the process and getting my feet wet in photoshop.
