Here it is. Don’t playah hate on the blue. I think it is a nice counter point to all the brown. Ok, you can plaah hate a little but isn’t it nice??!?!
Next on list is revising center meadow (new round names, no name plate and fixed tunnel nubs)

im thinking about color coding the tunnels. worker browner, soldier red, queen pplain cream, and slumber is amber (gold).March 15, 2014 at 10:27 pm #1870
Looks good overall. I don’t mind the blue; I agree it is a nice color contrast. It kind of makes me think about mutating energy waves or some such.
Some inconsistency on the capitalization of words like Larvae on the nest mat. I know the editors have been going over the rule set with a fine-tooth comb for things like that.
I’d take a look at the color-coded tunnels, though one-thing I liked about it previously (that it still largely has going for it, even with the blue) is the real sense of it being naturalistic and underground. I’m afraid the colorful tunnels would damage that aspect of the aesthetic for me.

I tried color coding the tunnels and it was bad. game over on that one.
tim, can you print a b/w copy of nest before monday and maybe steve can mark up his corrections on that then. i will post a final tif soon to gdrive.March 16, 2014 at 2:19 am #1877
I am anti-blue – don’t hate a hater. I just want the awesome golden/orange/brown hue of yesteryear. That was perfection for me. There is so much going on already with mat that I feel like a whole new color spectrum makes it even harder to process. And I think the ant gets lost a bit.
My two cents. I am pretty against blue.March 16, 2014 at 2:08 pm #1881
here is my response I sent you via email (i’m going to create a blue you can love and totally hear what you are saying)!!!:
I’m going to tone down the blue (and and take the blue out of the ant) to see if i can sell you on the blue. I think otherwise the player nest is really heavy on the browns and the cards break that up. Also, the blue will disappear as you play evolutions. See its making evolutions matter!
We had also talked about making the card backs more of a horizon kind of thing. I didn’t worry about that right now since this round of cards is printed but that would put a cool scene behind the ant and reduce over all blue. i’ll tone down the pepples. i kind of liked them because it creates a division between food-actions and ant-actions.
I like what steve said about the radiating power. the power!!!
p.s. also, when i send you v7.1 (the less blue edition) make sure to check it out in print because PC screens are bluer than print or Mac screens.March 17, 2014 at 1:01 am #1897
ok so this is seriously less blue.
40% reduction of the blue cards.
60% reduction of blue pebbles (they are also relegated to 1 side +50 reduction!!).
30% more happy brown.
50% more red in ant
15% less see through in ant.
if you add that up is like 185% less blue!!
