Here is the firstest draft of the VP score board. I’m gonna make it color, but will wait to see if we actually want it first.
This would replace VP chits.

I dig it! The drawing is rad and I like the quote cause it kind of seems like the crystal is granting the ants the secret social knowledge.
As far as a victory track I think it is pretty cool and does help with keeping track of chits, but as so much of the scoring happens at the very end of the game it doesn’t feel completely necessary and might not be the most efficient way to deal with endgame scoring.
I wonder if we make a few more of the scoring things happen earlier or throughout the game but I do feel pretty good about scoring right now.
I say wait on the color but we should print it out and play a game with it and see how it feels. Ultimately, a little scorepad a la 7wonders or Gric might be the way to go, with better,meatier VP chits that let people see what others got.

Ok even though you say no color here is a draft of colors.
The way i have it divided up is as follows: The left side has the quote and explanation that gaining VP moves you along the track. The right side lists all the ways you gain VP- by completing an ant and a bunch of stuff then happens in Autumn. I think we can word it so that the various scoring is spread out around autumn the final round. Hex scoring happens at end of solder blah blah blah.
And it means we can take a whole chamber off the playmat and remove all the Victory associated text. That is a reduction of like 15% words right there. Bizz-amp!

I’m not sure about yes/no on score track — I’d like to try it. Only caveat is I like my idea of spending VP chits to influence/vote etc. in some sort of Council of the Ants expansion that adds a new phase to each turn. But I digress.
I would suggest placing each number that is a multiple of 5 inside of the VP crown. It would draw a really clear connection to the collection sites.January 22, 2014 at 7:23 am #1269
I think that regardless of whether we use it in the final analysis, it will at the very least be a really good playtesting tool, because it will help illustrate how and when vp points are gained, and how the tension and push towards victory ramps up.

I won’t put any more work into it until we decide if it makes scoring (and end game) easier/clearer or worse. I do think your council of ants idea (which sounds awesome!) could work here too- You just spend influence/VP by moving backwards on the track.
Just thoughts and dreams…
